In Problem 6.26, compute the upward force on the device from water and air. Use the results of Problem 6.26 as well as any other data given in that problem that you may need. Explain why you cannot profitably use Bernoulli’s equation here for a force calculation.
Problem 6.26
Water flows steadily up the vertical pipe and is then deflected to flow outward with a uniform radial velocity. If friction is neglected, what is the flow rate of water through the pipe if the pressure at A is 10 psig?
