In preparation for the Discussion Question, study the two-part case study assigned this week from the Course Pack: ‘Bardhaman (A) Shrachi and the West Bengal Housing Board’ and ‘Bardhaman (B) Bengal Shrachi and the Township Design Decision’. Put yourself in the place of the visitor mentioned in the first paragraph of the Bardhaman (B) case where Rahul Todi asked the visitor, ‘What do you think—the radial lakes or the repetitive grid?
We need to decide which design to follow, and we need to decide now’.
Apply the critical success factor (CSF) groupings described by Toor & Ogunlana (2008)—comprehension, competence, commitment and communication—to the two options described above. Post your recommendation for which design option to follow. Support your decision with a description of how you applied the CSFs to reach your recommendation.

Underlying relationships among the factors that contribute to project success can provide important insights for success on future projects. Therefore, major objective of this paper is to explore such underlying relationships and examine how these relationships can be useful to further explain success in large-scale con- structionprojects.Inordertoelicittheperceptionofcriticalsuccessfactorsforlarge-scaleconstructionprojects,questionnaireandinter- viewsurveyswereemployedwithconstructionprofessionals.Factoranalysiswasusedtoexaminetheunderlyingrelationshipsofsuccess factors which resulted in formulation of four factor groupings which were together called critical COMs of success and were labeled as COMprehension, COMpetence, COMmitment, and COMmunication, respectively.
