In October 2011, unknown person(s) broke a window to gain entry into the offices of the Sutter Medical Foundation. The items stolen in the incident included over a dozen monitors, keyboards, and a single desktop computer containing the records of millions of patients. Although the incident was reported to the local authorities immediately upon discovery, notification of the public occurred nearly a month later.
