Introduction
Unemployment is referred to the situation, which happens if a person of a given specific age is not being able to achieve the state of employment at any profession. In that context, it can be mentioned that the process of unemployment also occurs if a person is available for work but is not able to find a suitable job. This process clearly defines that the unemployment situation of a person signifies the jobless condition of that individual. The unemployment process is measured through the unemployment rates and that represents the number of people who are unemployed at a percentage of labour forces.
In that case, it can be mentioned that the unemployment situation of individuals can happen due to multiple reasons. Sources that are resulting in the unemployment situation of a person are such as the presence of new technology and inventions, the status of the economy and the increasing competition due to globalisation and international trade. Furthermore, regulation and the market situation also served a significant impact on the creation of reasons for unemployment.
On this purpose, the discussion of this assessment is focusing on the unemployment process, which is highly noted within the context of Australia. There is also the presence of precise analysis of historical overview and current contexts of the issues of unemployment in the discussion part. Strategies, as well as programmes, which can be applied for the reduction of unemployment issues from Australia, are also presented with the proper analysis within this report.
1. Historical Overview of the Issue
According to the reports, it is noticed that the unemployment rates within the context of Australia has been increasing and this process is evident from the past ages. Through the overview of the previous data, it is observed that since 1966, there has been a 7.9% rise in the male unemployment rate. In the year of 1997, the quality of unemployment in Australia has increased by approximately 9.1% (Burke, Best & Jotzo, 2019).Along with the male unemployment rates, the female unemployment rates has also increased and that increasing rates started from the higher base.
Since 1990, the female unemployment rates have been below the male unemployment rates and over the past years, the number of that unemployment rate has dramatically picked-up. In 1997, the female unemployment rate had risen significantly and it increased by around approximately 17% (Gregory & Smith, 2016). In that case, it is noticed that the betterment within the labour market, which was performed by the women of Australia, could be done due to the greater willingness of women to take part in the part-time works. Reports showed that among all the women of Australia, one-third of unemployed females were looking for a part-time job.
At that time, the women who have employed approximately 42.9% of them were in the part-time employment process. Therefore, the changing nature of workforces of the organisations and the interest of women regarding the part-time works allowed them to make their employment. Through the overview of the unemployment issues, which is noted from the past years, it is observed that the hidden unemployment delivered its significant impact in the increasing rates of unemployment in Australia (Gonzalez-Chica et al., 2017).
With the application of the labour force statistics, it is noticed that in that country there was the presence of approximately 1.3% hidden unemployment rates since 1996. Presence of that hidden unemployment in that country results in the increasing unemployment rates to 9.9%. In that case, it can be added that the growth rates of disguised employment delivered its damping effects on the more vigorous growth of the economy of this country. With the application of sophisticated techniques, the characteristics of the hidden unemployment process are analysed with precise contexts (Sutcliffe & Dhakal, 2018).
Results of this analysis showed that the confidential unemployment process in Australia was concentrated among immigrants. Multiple aspects that were undertaken in the development of hidden unemployment rates of this country are such as non-English speaking background, older people who were previously employed on a temporary job and unsatisfactory job performance of the employees.
