In an EBP review, you begin by describing the clinical problem or scenario. At the University of Washington’s website (http:// libguides.hsl.washington.edu/content.php ?pid=231619&sid=1931590), you will find examples of clinical problems and scenarios. The PICOT method is used to clearly define a specific clinical problem. This site shows you how to move from the clinical problem/scenario to a clinical question using a PICOT question. How would you summarize this process?
Write a PICOT question. After you have written your PICOT question, compare it with questions developed by other students (this can be done in a small group). Ask members of the group to identify theP, I, C, O, andTin your question, and do the same with the other questions. Select one PICOT question and see if the group can find a systematic review dealing with it. If you cannot find a systematic review, then discuss what this means. Identify PICOT questions for your clinical patients.
