    In the Iri
sh War of Independence the women who belonged to the socio-economic class played a major role. Though the Irish women did not take part in handling the arms and ammunitions in the battle field, they indirectly participated in the independence movement. The socio-economic class Irish women were considered to be fragile and were supposed to be confined to the walls of the house and indulge in carrying out household chores. But they had played a strong role in the advancement of the Independence movement by the supply of arms and ammunitions to the men who were in the war front.
    This class of women had an added advantage as the British Government did not suspect them and the weapons could be easily transported over to the activists.
