Question
Considering Mr. P’s condition and circumstance, write an essay of 500-750 words that includes
the following:
Describe your approach to care.
Recommend a treatment plan.
Describe a method for providing both the patient and family with education and explain your
rationale.
Provide a teaching plan (avoid using terminology that the patient and family may not
understand).
Congestive heart failure means that heart is not able to pump enough amount of blood to the
body. Congestive heart failure usually occurs in aged people (65 and above) as their heart
becomes very weaker to pump blood. This raises several symptoms, including blood and fluid to
"back up" into the lungs, buildup of fluid in the feet, ankles, and legs, tiredness and shortness of
breath. Mr. P is suffering from all of these symptoms.
Treatment of congestive heart failure includes medications, life styles and diet. As Mr. P is
unable to afford the expenses of medications, he has to change his life styles. My approach to
treat him is to provide a lesson how he can maintain a good life styles that can prevent further
worsening of his condition. These include:
Maintain normal blood pressure.
Abnormally high blood pressure may add a strain on the heart muscle because there is more
resistance to its pumping action. The strain may cause abnormalities that will result in congestive
