In a
3-4 minute
speech, identify a quote that is meaningful to you some way. As long as the quote is appropriate, it can be famous, from a novel, a scripture reading, a song lyric, a common saying, etc. Relate the quote to your life, dreams, passions, background, ideals, hobbies, or whatever you like. The main goal is for you to find some way that you can apply the quote to some aspect(s) of your life.
Try to formulate your speech in the following manner:
Introduction
Get our attention either through introducing your quote or leading up to it with a story.
Preview your speech by telling us what your main points will be.
Body
Have approximately 3 points to illustrate how that quote applies to your life.
Conclusion
Briefly summarize your body.
Refer back to the introduction and/or your quote to bring your speech to a close.
Do not end with “That’s it.”
