In 2008, two women in New South Wales complained to police that they had suffered considerable distress and concern when they were having lower back x-rays because they had been required to completely undress and to lie in a position that meant their genitals were exposed to the radiographer. Although there was absolutely no clinical justification for this, the women, who were fully competent, had followed the instructions without protest. Does this mean that there was implied consent? Was it therefore acceptable?
