Why do you think it is often difficult to do business across cultures? How can businesspeople avoid cross-cultural mistakes? If a company offends a culture in which it is trying to do business, what should it do?

Doing business in China:
I have
been asked to go to China to work in the country. The country culturally and traditionally
is Chinese and every person who lives there either on work permit or on a visit definitely needs
to know Chinese. Unless one has a working knowledge of Chinese it becomes very difficult for
one to communicate or even conduct himself in the country. The culture is different , the
traditions are different and so awkward translations definitely come up when dealing with the
Chinese. This is cross culture differences and has to be taken up very strategically and carefully.
The culture differences have to be treated with great care and hence the business conduct has to
be taken up very circumspectively. The people here are used to the concept of the working class
and this makes them very sensitive to dealing with foreign nationals. The greatest misconception
