Description of the Management Position
Humane society Animal Shelter of Lakewood, California is
a non-profit animal
protection organization working from last 20 years. From the time of its initiation, it is been
fighting for the protection of all animals with the help of advocacy, education, and hands-on
programs. The organization rescue and care for thousands of animals each year. The
organizations’ mission is to prevent cruelty before it happens (Aronson, 2010). I am working as a
Rescue and Relief Manager in Humane Society of Animal Shelter and responsible to manage
rescue and relief team working for saving animals. Being a non-profit organization, it work with
different plans and programs to improve both the living conditions at the facility and the care and
treatment of rescued or adopted pets in their care.
Summary of Answers
Answer 1:
On a day to day basis, the general issues I handle are organizing required products at
facility and dealing with situation when a pet is abused and need to be rescued immediately.
Then, I had to decide a team to go and rescue an animal and then plan for animals’ relief and
care. Managing all these aspects what, I handle on daily basis. As well, I am also involved in
making plans and programs to improve animals living condition and care at facility.
Answer 2:
Within the workplace of humane society Animal shelter, I face conflict in three areas that
are animal related issues, policy related issues, and interpersonal relations. For dealing with these
conflicts, I try to be conversant in organization policies and always prepared to talk with
volunteers who have some problem. Any conflict at the part of volunteers is handled with
effective communication and making them understands the ongoing protocols. For handling

conflicts from customers side like related to programs and policies are handled with face-to-face
discussions and publishing all facts and figures regularly (Shenk, 2005).
