Illustrate Kelly’s concept of constructive alternativism in your own life. Oftentimes, we perceive the world and events from only our own perspective, using our own personal constructs. Doing so deprives us of other people’s perspectives and other potentially valid opinions. It is always useful and constructive to take into account views that may differ or conflict with our own. According to Kelly, any event is open to a variety of interpretations. Examine a recent event in your life from multiple perspectives. It could be a fight you had with your significant other, a debate with friends, something you witnessed on campus or at a party. Whatever instance you choose, list all the different people who were involved in the scene, and then write a brief paragraph in each person’s voice expressing each person’s perspective.
