1. Where do you place yourself on the continuum of cultural competence
Cultural Competence is the ability recognizing as well as bring a mind of challenging the other people’s cultural assumptions as well as their beliefs. In other words, I take it as a way or an alternative of developing empathy and recognizing through an appreciations that there exists many different ways of understanding the world which is influenced by the culture. Hence, to my understanding, indigenous cultural competence refers to the way of understanding the values. It has provided the foundation of the indigenous as well as non-indigenous people of Australia a better way of engagement in a proper and spirited mutual respect.
