If you scroll down the guide i sent, you will see (part a) submission of a draft poster, we are doing that one. The poster template is provided. We are ONLY doing the "introduction, case study (outline) and the case study discussion" from the temple. not the abstract and conclusion. It is a draft remember. Not the actual essay. Btw it is a case study and my topic is Food Allergens.


1 Assessment 3 Virtual Poster Assignment In this assignment you will be preparing an e-poster on a topic related to food security or food safety. So let us first begin by understanding what an academic poster is? Consider it as a blend between a published paper and an oral presentation. It is supposed to be more detailed in comparison to an oral presentation but less detailed in comparison to a published paper. In an academic poster, you get to showcase your project in a concise but aesthetically pleasing manner. Some common headings you will come across a scientific poster include Abstract, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussions, Conclusion and References. Posters are an important means of communication in the academic world, but can also be used by industries to present a critical piece of information to a relevant audience (could be other researchers, industry or members of the general public). Posters are a great way to improve your scientific writing skills. Now that we know what it means, let us understand the assessment brief. 1) Poster layout A poster template has been made available to you on the unit site under Resources/Assessments/HSn204_Assessment 3-Poster template. You are welcome to use the poster template as is for creating your poster, or can also make changes to the colour and layout (layout of the headings) of the poster (only design changes are allowed). You cannot delete any headings in the template. If you have any other changes in mind, please discuss with the unit chair for approval. For more help with the Poster Layout, please refer to the Assessment 3-Video Help Guide available under Resources/Assessments/Assessment Task 3/Assessment Helpful resources Please use the following formatting specifications for the poster Font: Arial Text size: 20pt Section heading size: 40pt Title size: 66pt Name, students #, etc.: 44pt Poster Layout: The poster template will constitute of the following main headings; Title of the Unit HSN204-Food Safety Title of the Poster This will state your poster Topic. E.g. Food Security Presenter details Here you will provide your full name and Student ID 2 Abstract (absolute word limit 150 words) The abstract will be a brief summary of the poster covering the major aspects of the poster. This will include a brief introduction to the topic and the case study and most significant discussion of the case study. The word limit for the abstract cannot be exceeded. Introduction (tentative word limit 400 words) The introduction is your first chance to engage the reader. The introduction should clearly introduce the poster topic and provide the most relevant information pertaining to the poster topic in a scientifically accurate manner. So you need to first explain your poster topic (e.g. may be a definition), provide its significance, then in a concise manner explain the background information related to the topic. This could be some current facts related to the topic that make it relevant for further research or some figures/graphs or tables that discuss relevant data/processes (this could be from the literature or you could make your own figure). The introduction should cover key pieces of information that would equip you to discuss your case study. It should have a logical structure and flow to the information. You have to use scientifically relevant references to support your statements. Case Study Outline (tentative word limit 300 words) In this section you will be outlining the case study associated with your topic in your own words. Here you need to break-down the case study and come up with a list of the most important points of discussion (key problems) relevant to the case study. It has to be done in a structured, organised and concise manner to help the audience understand the nuances of the case study. Case Study Discussion (tentative word limit 500 words) This section of the poster will be dedicated to your analysis of the case study associated to your topic. You will be highlighting the main background information from the literature that is relevant to the case study, critically analyse the information given to you and address all the key issues that you raised in the earlier section in a concise manner. You have to use scientifically relevant references to support your arguments/solutions. You can use figures/graphs/tables from the literature (or build your own) to support your arguments. There should be a logical flow to the information that is presented. You can also include a small summary in the end to conclude the case study discussion. Conclusion (150 words) This section will provide a brief conclusion to the poster topic and the associated case study. In other words, here you want to give the audience a ‘take home’ message about your poster topic that makes it relevant to the real world. You should try adding a future direction of research or a future endeavour that should be undertaken pertaining to your poster topic. The word limit for the conclusion cannot be exceeded. References (no word limit) Information obtained from the literature should be cited in-text and also at the bottom of the poster. Vancouver style of referencing should be used for in-text referencing and the final reference list. In Part A, you will be submitting a draft poster within the unit site under the assignment folder for Assessment 3-Draft Poster-Part A. In the draft poster, you will be expected to create a structured outline for the introduction, case study outline and case study discussion. In other words you will provide the main headings and or sub-headings that you will be covering in your introduction, case study outline and case study discussion. At this stage you are not required to provide a full description of the sub-headings. Just listing the key dot points under each main heading/sub-heading with a one line description of what you intend to discuss under that would be sufficient. In addition, you need to provide atleast one relevant image/graph/table that will help you replace text in the introduction/Case study discussion. You will also be required to provide two references (only in the reference list) using the Vancouver Style of Referencing. You will be getting a feedback on this outline that will help you develop your final submission. Please refer to the Draft Poster Rubric for understanding the marking criteria. It will be made available to you on the Unit site under Assessments/Assessment 3/Assessment 3_Part A/HSN204_Draft Poster Rubric_Assessment 3_Part A Note: Part A can be submitted as a .ppt file Assessment 3 (Part B): Submission of Peer Review feedback (due Week 7, 30th Aug 2019, 11:59 pm), worth 5% of your final mark In Part B, you will be providing peer review feedback on two separate draft posters that will be made available to you on the unit site under Assessments/Assessment 3/Assessment 3_Part A_Poster Draft_Peer Feedback_Topic XXX. The two poster drafts will be based on two separate topics, which will be different to your own poster topic. The drafts for providing the feedback will be made available at the beginning of Week 6. To provide the feedback you will have to use the Peer Review Feedback Template available to you on the Unit site under Assessments/Assessment 3/Assessment 3_Part B_HSN204_Peer Review Template_Assessment 3_Part B. Each student will upload two word documents representing the 2 feedbacks on the 2 separate poster topics. Please refer to the table below to find out the poster topics you will be providing feedback on. Part B can be submitted as two separate word documents within the unit site under the assignment folder for Assessment 3-Peer Review Feedback-Part B Assessment 3 (Part C): Submission of final poster (due Week 12, Monday 30th September 2019, 11:59 pm), worth 35% of your final mark In Part C, you will be submitting the final poster. The final poster should include an Abstract, Introduction, Case study outline, Case study Discussion and Conclusion. In-text citations and the final reference list should be formatted according to the Vancouver referencing style. Please refer to the Final Poster Rubric for understanding the marking criteria. She faced an open challenge from soya milk after her poor response towards SPT for the products made from soy.
