sance art can be described as the portrayal of the overt enthusiasm of the classical Greek and Roman notion of creativity and artistic endeavors, as well as open avenues of human thinking which are novel and unique. In this paper, a Renaissance artwork will be discussed, which is of immense repute, even to this present day. The artwork that will be discussed in the following sections is David by the key artist of the Italian High Renaissance, Michelangelo.
Discussion
    The biblical figure, David is portrayed in the sculpture by Michelangelo. Based on the narrative, it is known that David valiantly fought with Goliath, a colossal philistine by knocking him down with a sling and beheading him with a sword. According to Roberts (2020), the independent Republic of Florence sought David to be the symbol of Florence for his courage, immense strength, and historic perseverance. There are a number of Renaissance characteristics that are evident in the sculpture of David created by Michelangelo. These characteristics are discussed in a detailed manner in the following paragraphs.
    Renaissance in a way was the rediscovery of the Greek and the Roman period. The creation of David represents the technical virtuosity of the Greek and Roman culture. The High Renaissance art was characterized by technical flair as it was earlier observed in the artworks of the Greek culture. The detailed anatomy of David, therefore, explicitly establishes a direct connection with the historical artworks of the Greek and Roman period.
