If you disagree because you have always known who you are and what you wanted, I envy you (though I suspect that you may not know yourself as well as you think). Having spent too much of my time obeying introjected parental demands (or what I thought were parental demands), I have experienced more than a little diffi culty untangling my own wishes from these introjected standards and fi guring out what I really want (as by fi nding work that I genuinely like). So I agree with Jung’s statement.
