BCG mattrix
BCG matrix is a portfolio planning model, which is used to determine position of the product in
the product portfolio of the company. Under this model, company divides its business units into
four categories on the basis of combinations of market growth and market share comparative to
the leading opponent. This model helps the management to analyze the future growth of
different business units.
With the help of this matrix, we will compaire the different products as well as companies which
we have studied in our course earlier. The four categories can be described as follows:
Stars: it involves high growth products competing in markets where they are strong compared
with the competition. In this column, we can place Color Kinetics Incorporation (CKI). Over the
last few years, CKI has shown very good growth as compared to the competitors. Apart from the
CKI, we can also place, Tesla. Company has monopoly in manufacturing environment friendly
cars which runs on battery. It is expected that the market of these cars will increase in the coming
