Identify a potential emergency situation that could arise at your workplace.


a)    Describe the potential emergency situation


b)    Consult with the WH&S policies of the workplace to determine an action plan to respond to the potential emergency. Write the action plan. It should include the level of potential risk according to the organisation’s risk matrix, the actions required to manage the emergency and reduce the risk and the title of the person/s responsible (approx. 300 words)


c)    Show your action plan to your supervisor, or another colleague, and ask for feedback.  Incorporate this feedback into your action plan and indicate which parts of the plan have been revised.

Below you will find three case studies from the ‘T-Riffik Centre’.  The information about each case is outlined in the completed intake forms for each client.

You are required to read the case studies and answer the following questions for each of the case studies.


1.    Identify and outline the issues contributing to the client’s complex situation;


a)    Arising from within the client them self
b)    Arising from other workers and services that worked with the client
c)    Arising from environmental issues e.g. geography, access, social inclusion and stigma, legislation and government policy, etc.


2.    How would you, as the worker, work collaboratively with the client to prioritise needs and develop self-determined, recovery oriented directions?


3.    Note examples of how challenges to communication and relationships were addressed.
