PROJECT OVERVIEW HOSTEL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM As the name specifies “HOSTEL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM” is web application developed for managing various activities in the hostel. This system is designed in favor of the hostel management which helps them to save the records of the students about their rooms and other things. It helps them from the manual work from which it is very difficult to find the record of the students and the mess bills of the students, and the information of about the those ones who had left the hostel. All the hostels at present are managed manually by the hostel office. The Registration form verification to the different data processing is done manually. Thus there are a lot of repetitions which can be easily avoided. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF PROJECT For the past few years the number of educational institutions is increasing rapidly. Thereby the number of hostels is also increasing for the accommodation of the students studying in this institution. And hence there is a lot of strain on the person who are running the hostel and software’s are not usually used in this context. This particular project deals with the problems on managing a hostel and avoids the problems which occur when carried manually. Identification of the drawbacks of the existing system leads to the development of computerized hostel management system that will be compatible to the existing system with the system which is more users friendly and more GUI oriented. We can improve the efficiency of the system, thus overcome the drawbacks of the existing hostel management system. Less human error, Strength and strain of manual labour can be reduced, High security, Data redundancy can be avoided to some extent, Data consistency, Easy to handle, Easy data updating, Easy record keeping, Backup data can be easily generated. SCOPE OF PROJECT · Hostel management system is developed for hostel for easy management · The admin has privilege of managing students, employees, payments , bills attends , notice board and so on. · Administrator create every student’s profile by using id and password , after the admin creates the students profile student can access the system · Administrator can view every activity · The Hostel manage system has ability of managing hostel quickly Problems faced · Difficulty in Maintenance of Records. · Time Consuming. · Editing of data becomes a tedious job. · No Security of Data. · Mistakes Occurring in long Calculations [Total fees, percentage calculations, etc.] · Proper Generation of Report (i.e. Fees, etc.) · Lack of Efficiency and Man Power. · High Data Redundancy. · Data Inconsistency. Challenges Hardware Challenge :The computer that is used to develop the system needs to have good processor, we have solved that problem and assigned single computer to use for developing the system and we also formatted and installed windows 10 and xampp server. This helped to make the computer run faster. Software challenge: During the installation of wamp server, there were problems of wamp server installation. It was solved immediately by installing xampp server and we manage to continue our work. Experience of Computer and software: yes, have medium level computer skills. Communication method: WhatsApp or Email Feasibility study TECHNICAL FEASIBILITY The technical feasibility in the proposed system deals with the technology used in the system. It deals with the hardware and software used in the system whether they are of latest technology or not. It happens that after a system is prepared a new technology arises and the user wants the system based on that technology. This system use windows platform, .net as front end technology and sql server as backend technology. Thus ONLINE HOSTEL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM is technically feasible ECONOMICAL FEASIBILITY Economic analysis is the most frequently used method for evaluating the effectiveness of a new system. More commonly known as cost/benefit analysis. Php, html, css and sql are easily available in internet TIME FEASIBILITY The project has been developed in such a way that it becomes very easy even for a person with little computer knowledge to operate it. This software is very user friendly and does not require any technical person to operate. Thus, the project is accessed anytime anywhere.
