Administration has X workstations, Marketing has X+5 workstations and Sales has X+10 workstations. Generally, each department has its own applications but some applications require inter-department data transfer. All workstations need Internet access, company intranet access, access to local servers and access to email. Web and Email servers are hosted on the ground floor as well. You as a network engineer need to come up with network design report.X = last two digits of your student ID. Introduction and Requirements
The Local Area Network of Mynetwork company (MNC) occupied a five story building at Sydney and wants to deploy the Local Area Network (LAN) to provide the network and Internet services to the employee. The employees are provided LAN connected workstations to access the resources of LAN and others such as Internet, web and email from hosted servers in premise. The plan of MNC is to design the LAN for four different departments such as Administration, Marketing, HR and Sales. Therefore, the LAN should must be divided in subnets to provide the network services to the employees of different departments. The details of department having the requirement of subnet of LAN at floor level of MNC in five story building at Sydney are given below.
· Administration Department Subnet – First Floor
· Marketing Department Subnet – Second Floor
· HR Department Subnet – Third Floor
· Sales Department Subnet – Fourth Floor
· Email and Web Server Hosting – First Floor
With above given requirements the subnets of LAN is required to be designed by setup and configuration of networking devices, computer workstations, servers, and cabling. 
LAN Design
LAN of MNC is design as per the specified requirements. The design of LAN with all subnets and connectivity of networking devices, server and workstations are taken out by designing tool Ms-visio. A network diagram for MNC LAN in five story building is performed. First of all, the network topology s selected to design the LAN, Logical network layout is developed and finally the IP address schemes for network of MNC is presented.
Network Topology
Star Network topology is considered to implement under the design of LAN of MNC. This star network topology is provides the star LAN for the five story building where all the subnet workstations are directly connected to the network distribution devices.
LAN Design
The layout of LAN of MNC in five story building as per the above specification is presented under the following figure.
IP address Scheme
Ip addressing is required to be defined to generate the IP addresses for the networking devices and computing workstations of each of the subnet of LAN of MNC.
