ASSE 4311 Learning Outcome Assessment III/BA - MID-TERM EXAM Dr. Elizabeth Taylor, Professor –Fall 2018 Student Name: ________________________________ ID# __________________________________ This is a Comprehensive Reflective Exam. This EXAM is a continuation of the “reflection” skills you are required to learn and demonstrate in the ASSE series of courses at PMU. This EXAM constitutes 15% of the course’s overall grade. For efficiency and for you to take the proper time to reflect and respond, this is a take home exam, designed for you as a learned senior student who is accustomed to working independently and responsibly. The exam’s purpose is to encourage you to reflect on your overall learning experience at PMU; and as it relates to your career beyond your University degree program. The questions are designed to assess your development in the PMU competencies of Leadership, Teamwork and Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving, and with an emphasis on personal and career development. INSTRUCTIONS: The grading criteria will focus on the completeness of your answers. It will focus on the quality of your responses which should be thoughtful and detailed, with specific examples. Answer the questions thoroughly and precisely, and FROM YOUR OWN EXPERIENCE. Make your responses clear and readable using only YOUR OWN WORDS. Your paper should be 4-5 fully typed pages; using no less than 1 ½ inches of spacing (no double-spacing), and using 12 inch fonts. Exclude the questions and cover page in your paper. Do not use rhetoric, graphics or charts and a lot of empty space in your paper. This paper is due on your very next day in class. Each question is 3 points for a total of 15 points. Question #1: Vision 2030 - Review the Saudi Vision 2030 document on Blackboard and answer the following questions: a) What important changes do you see happening among your friends, associates and in your community as a result of this vision? GIVE EXAMPLES; b) How does the Saudi Vision impact you personally and professionally? Be specific in your answer and GIVE EXAMPLES; c) How can you support this vision as a future leader and citizen of the region? Give a detailed answer. Question #2: Assessment of Personal and Professional Development – “Soft skills”: a) Describe in detail the three most essential “soft” skills you have used and are developing as a student throughout your time at PMU; and discuss how are you demonstrating these soft skills at PMU and in this course? Be specific and Give EXAMPLES from specific situations. b) Discuss how your use of any soft skills have actually made a difference in a situation or solved a problem. Again, be very specific and detailed in your answer. (Do not refer to teamwork, critical thinking and problem-solving or leadership in answer Question #2 – these will be discussed in 3, 4 & 5). Question #3: PMU Competency – Teamwork: a) Describe three real problem situations that you were able to resolve with teamwork. These must be strong and complex situations that you are proud for what you achieved through teamwork. Provide a step-by-step description with clear EXAMPLES of what was the situation and what you did as a team member to make the best of the situation; b) Discuss specific ways that you can improve and further develop your teamwork abilities. Question #4: PMU Competency - Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving: a) Describe three specific and challenging situations that you were able to resolve by applying critical thinking and problem solving skills. These must be strong and complex problem situations that you are proud for what you achieved through applying critical thinking. Provide a step-by-step description with clear EXAMPLES –of what was the problem and what did you do to solve it; b) Discuss specific ways that you can improve and further develop your critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Question #5: PMU Competency – Leadership: a) Describe two detailed situations where you took on a leadership role as a student or professionally. These must be strong and complex situations that you are proud for what you achieved through leadership. Provide a clear step-by-step description of the problem, what you did and what was the outcome of your leadership efforts. Give specific EXAMPLES. b) As an emerging business leader or entrepreneur identify an existing and specific problem in the global business community and how you as a business leader/entrepreneur would address it; discuss what Leadership skills you will be applying to the situation.
