I would like you to diagram the thymidylate synthase, DHFR cycle shown in my slide #42. I would like you to include information on the synthesis of serine as well so you can appreciate the source of the methyl carbon that ends up in thymidylate in addition to understanding how fluoroU and methotrexate act to inhibit the cycle. See if you can found out if there are good inhibitors of the serine hydroxymethyltransferase, it would seem to me to be a candidate for interfering with this critical cycle as well (although inhibition of the serine hydroxymethyltransferase could be more toxic to cells). 80 pts for the diagram, 20 pts for information about inhibition of the serine hydroxymethyltransferase.
