Racial Bias in Video Games
There are instances where Black Americans are considered to be of community which has no proper representation. Even in the society they are deprived of so many rights and they need to face challenges in their life like bullying, discrimination due to their colour and race. The same concept of this racial bias has been evident in video games. Even in the Hollywood movies you can see that Black characters are usually seen in three types of roles: Black as Violent, Black as the sidekick and Black as the help. Black characters were never considered to be heroic like riding dragons or take a lead good character.
The video game titled “The Walking Dead Telltale” at the beginning started with a convicted criminal driven by police through the streets in a vehicle. The criminal was a black character. Also, the police officer who accompanied the criminal was a white character. Why can’t a criminal be a white character? Why can’t a police officer be a black character?
