Scope Overview
To define and determine the scope of a project is very important before beginning the same. According to PMBOK, the scope of a project is the entire work that is needed to be done for achieving the objectives of the project. The scope involves the entire process of identification and documentation of the project goals which are specific along with the outcomes, milestones, costs, tasks, resources, dates of timelines and a specific completion date of the project. In this project, there is a brief description of the business case, which is followed by the background of the project. The milestones of the project have been discussed along with the acceptance criteria which is then followed by risks and assumptions, stakeholders list and resource planning is also done. In the end, there is a brief description of the lessons learned from the project.
Business Case
According to the PMBOK, a business case of a project charter explains the basic requirements of a project’s occurrence. It is the rationale behind the existence of the project in the first place. Business case of a project links the strategic objective of an organisation to the reasons for the existence of the project and gives it more value of occurrence. For an organisation related to project management, there are a lot of options of selecting one project among hundreds or thousands and the business case is the section which aids the management of the organisation with the necessary information that shows them which projects it needs to choose (Rosenberger and Tick, 2018). The business case of the current project of installation of a new playground has a justified business case is currently the open space is occupied by derelict vehicles and other waste materials which are polluting the environment. Hence, a park will not only benefit the environment but also will benefit the health of the local citizens.
Background
Project background focuses on three major characteristics of a project which are the reasons for initiation of the project, the identification of the prerequisites of the project and the probable outcomes of the project which can be availed after successful completion. According to PMBOK, project background refers to a formal document depicting the basic works that are needed to be done within the project (Rosito, Callegari and Bastos, 2012). A project background document develops the project initiative and sets the focus on prerequisites and desirable outcomes. In the current project of a...
