We have conducted a survey about ‘how do our daily activities affect the environment’. As evident
from the title, this survey intends to highlight the effect of our daily practices on environment, natural
resources, ecosystem, global climate changes and global warming. These are very important issues of
modern era. Massive indust
rialization and urbanization have made a telling affect on the environment. We
are witnessing global climate change and warming which in turn is affecting the ecosystem of earth. But
we can better this situation by some simple daily practices. In this survey we try to collect information
about the amount of awareness and activity amongst people regarding these issues.
The survey contains the following questions:
1. Humans are an important cause of global climate change. ___
2. Urbanization and forestry have changed most of the Earth’s ecosystems. ___
3. I plant trees to help the environment. ___
4. Human activity has affected marine food chains. ___
5. By consuming fish human contribute to the depletion of fisheries. ___
6. Because of mining and burning fossil fuels, more CO2 is released into the atmosphere,
contributing to global warming. ___
7. I unplug electronic devices when I have finished using them. ___
8. The atmosphere is changing because of chemicals produced and used by humans. ___
9. I use insecticides to kill pests in my house. ___
10. The use of automobiles has raised Earth’s temperature over the last century. ___
11. I use my car everyday. ___
12. Humanity uses about 70% of the fresh available water for agriculture and household use.

All the participants have answered these questions with scores between 1 – 5. The score has the following
interpretations:
1- strongly disagree 2 - disagree 3 - neutral 4 - agree 5- strongly agree
We had 29 participants for this survey. Before representing survey results it would be better to
learn about the participants. So, we have also collected information about participant’s sex, age
and education level.
The participants constituted of 12 female and 16 male (1 participant did not provide information
about sex). So overall we had a fairly even distribution over both the sexes.

We had 5 broad categories in case of age, viz., 17-24, 25-32 , 33-45, 46-60 & 61-older. The
frequency distribution of the participants over these age categories is given below:

We can see that a fair proportion of participants came from the age group of 17-45 whereas more
than 50% were between 17-32 and 25-32 had maximum participants.
