(A) -The genetic basis of the roja versus negra meat trait in the alpoco is
Autosomal recessive inheritance.

MM Roja Roja
mm Negra Negra
The reasons for this inheritance as evident from the pedigree analysis are as
follows :-
1– the meat trait has skipped generation. (from I to IV )
2- most affected offsprings have unaffected parents (for eg:- in generation II
& III)
3- in the first generation there is a cross between an unaffected individual and
an affected individual which results in a generation having no defects .
4- equal number of males and females are affected in the IV generation .
(B)- i- yes this information changes the answer to (A) above since from the
pedigree analysis it is quite evident that a majority of the alpoco so produced
from the cross are roja not negra . at last generation 50% alpoco are negra and
rest 50% are roja .
ii- I would arrange a cross between male negra and female roja which will
also result in the same pedigree as resulted from the previous one in order to
confirm my hypothesis .
iii- if we consider MM genotype (roja ) as homozygous , mm genotype...
