I need a sociology assignment and a paper done single spaced, mla format. There are two parts to this assignment: 1) making two budgets, and 2) writing a paper drawing from Chapter 7 and Chapter 10.Choose 2 of the 3 cases presented. You will create two monthly budgets and will also write a 2-3 page, single-spaced paper summarizing and analyzing your budget using Conley’s chapter on poverty. I WILL PROVIDE THE OUTLINE AND CASES TO CHOOSE FROM. You should follow the outline and files provided.Make 2 budgets using pricing from the local area of Muskogee County (Georgia Power, Craigslist, grocery circulars, AT&T, WOW internet and cable etc.). While you may consider reasonable cost- conscious alternatives (such as buying a bike instead of using public transportation, or applying for student loans etc.), you should stay within the bounds of reality----in other words, no Powerball lottery wins, or rich aunts who die suddenly and leave you a fortune.BUDGET: Your budgets should include information on how you obtained the figure (website, Craigslist ad, shopping fliers, window shopping, calling utility companies). Your budget may be in charts, grid, spreadsheet, or bulleted form but must be typed neatly, and easy to understand.PAPER PROMPT: Looking at your budget, what can you analyze using the concepts presented in Conley’s chapters 7 and 10 on poverty, stratification, social class, inequality etc? Does minimum wage qualify you as “poor” even if you are fully working? You may begin by briefly describing your cases and the process of putting the cases budgets together, finding the information, performing the calculations. What was surprising, if anything? Then, consider at least 2-3 concepts that are covered from chapters 7 and 10. For example, can you examine what your cases mean for absolute versus relative poverty? What systems of stratification do you see? How can these cases argue different sides of the culture of poverty? What are your children’s life outcomes? Does the federal poverty line that determines benefits such as food stamps provide meaningful understanding of poverty, etc.?

Poverty rate in America has significantly varied over the past five decades. United States, the economic powerhouse, still has many people living in difficult economic circumstances. According to the official measure, in 2017 there were still 40m poor Americans living in the country. (TheEconomist)
Poverty in America has a long lasting and destructive socio-economic consequences. Absolute poverty refers to the point where
the income of the individual falls below the level that is required to purchase the basic human needs to survive. People with absolute poverty fails to afford the absolute necessities in life. The relative poverty is measured based on a median level of income measured in a given location.
Global inequality has increased dramatically over the last 50 years. The nature and magnitude of income inequality has changed substantially overtime. Sociologist has strongly believed that social stratification or the status hierarchy system has vast implications in the lifestyle of an individual. The power of the society is broadly hold by the few. Social mobility, the movement from one position to other in the system of social stratification in a given society can be vertical or horizontal. Despite the fact that many American are striving towards upward social mobility, horizontal social mobility is common that people are likely to experience.
In order to combat with the poverty challenge, several anti-poverty programs have been introduced by government since 1960. Children are likely the age group that suffers the most due to poverty. According to 2018 data, 11.5 million kids (16.2% of all children) live in Poverty in United States. (PovertyUSA) In a poverty-stricken community, the parental income or the employment and many other factors definitely lay a major role in their life outcomes. Bad parenting practices in a low socio-economic status adversely affects the children. Thus, during the last 20 to 30 years, poverty eradicating programs in America has provided strong focus to provide direct benefits to the children and encourage work for them. Many Americans are still living with the minimum wage that is currently set as $ 7.25 per hour.
The purpose of this task is to examine how the life style of an individual, his social class and life outcome is impacted by the federal minimum wage. While preparing the budget we are considering the income not the wealth of the family. All the costs are considered in the local area of Muskogee County.
In case #1, single mother of two small children is working for 60 hrs in week at the minimum wage rate of $7.25 per hr. Moreover, her take home income is calculated after deducting 8% as tax.
Now let us calculate her monthly income
60 hrs a week or 60*4=240 hrs in a month
240 hrs @ $7.25= $1740 per month
After deducting 8% as tax, total take home income= 1740-0.08*1740= 1600.8

She is paying (821/1740) *100= 0.47183908*100= 47.18 % of her income as rent which is substantially high

As far her usage plan, she pays $20 per month for cell phone. (bestplaces)
After considering all the cost, her total expenses for basic needs are calculated as $ 2009.866667 which is significantly greater than her income. Since she has two kids, day care service is very much needed for her. But the day care service in US is pretty high and Muskogee County is also of no exception. Since day care service becomes unaffordable, she has to go with the part time babysitting service. She considers cost conscious alternatives and prefers to go by bicycle to her workplace. Her decision of using bicycle instead...
