Article 2: Motti, V., & Caine, K. (2015). Users’ Privacy Concerns About Wearables. Financial Cryptography And Data Security, 231-244. doi: 10.1007/978-3-662-48051-9_17
The following article (Motti & Caine, 2015) is based on the popularity and the privacy issues of the smart IT wearable devices. As per the study many different wearables are already available in the market and in future many more are going to capture the market, the reason behind this success of the devices is that they are very popular among this new generation in the context of fashion whereas the older generation is also finding it useful because of its user friendly nature, its small size and easy availability with the additional feature of providing health benefits and security issue. The report is showcasing the working of these devices, which had made life simpler and thus is so much in demand and gain a popular culture among all. These devices collect the data from the surrounding of the users and enact accordingly but among the popularity for some users it is a challenge for the users for their privacy concerns. For catering such users, this study also presents the data collected on the qualitative basis that what kind of IT wearable products are in demand for the people for whom privacy is a challenge while using these devices. The report presents how the sensors should be employed in the devices so that no privacy issues could be a constraint in using these devices. The research is also helpful for the designers to present and manufacture devices as per the demand of the customers, may it be privacy issues or may it be fashion with smartness issues combined. These devices can gain more popularity if all the customers get what they demand for and this study is showcasing the same thing. Many different companies are gaining and earning a lot of revenue and profits by manufacturing these IT devices because the customers are ready to pay for them. The companies that have a brand name in the country have an extra advantage that the users are ready to pay a good amount of money for these devices. Wearing branded devices adds on to the value to the user and creates a sense of popular fashion culture. The users are using non-branded devices also, as they are providing the same features as the branded ones are giving but at a lower cost and thus they are also very popular among the users. The report is reflecting a good choice of wearable devices for the consumers as it is gaining a popular culture among the different ages and generations.
