After you have read the two stories assigned for this week (“Sonny’s Blues” and “Hills Like White Elephants”) and have researched the biographies of each author (James Baldwin and Ernest Hemingway) and have researched the historical events of the time period in which each story was set, as well as the historical events of the time period when each story was written,answer the following questions for each of the two stories:

1. From a biographical perspective, what similarities exist between the main character(s) & events in the story and the author’s own life?

2. From a historical perspective, what similarities exist between events in the story and relevant world events during the time period in which the story was set and written?
