I learned that we were not just one big happy family here with a predestined lot in life. I saw that many people do work hard and do not get adequately compensated for that labor. Others do not do a bit of work but have wealth beyond our wildest imagination. I started questioning other premises and assumptions about the state of the world that most people take for granted. In the end I am certain that without the critical thinking and analytical skills that I learned in sociology class I would not be fighting for working people today.”
