This essay is based on the topic “Mental illness does not exist, people are just excepted for
who they are”. The term mental illness can be defined as a condition which involves changes
in thinking process, behaviour and emotions of people. It is kind of disorder brought in
behaviour due to frequent mood changes(Anderson, W. P. 1993). Mental illness can be
reflected inform of depression, anger, anxiety, addictions and in form of eating habits. This
illness can range from mid to high level which is reflected among external environment.
Mental illness is reflected in lifestyle of people in young age groups who are student,
corporate professionals or family people. In early 50

subject for the general public, psychologists, physicians and for sociologists. Since 1990’s
mental illness has been considered as illness which is diagnosed and treated on the basis of
brain functioning. For an example, at times people who have committed sins ask the lawyers
to forgive them by giving excuses of metal illness. There are different kinds of environmental
factors such as divorce, death of people, dysfunctional family life, poverty, changes in career
and jobs, cultural expectations and abuses of people which results into mental illness. As per
psychologists, there are different kinds of mental illness which are caused because of
genetics, infections, brain defects, prenatal damages and other factors. Genetic mental illness
is caused because of illness which is passed inside human brain through genes and other
factors such as stress, abuses or any kind of accidental/traumatic events. Infections in body
have been damaging brain by creating mental illness. Injury also results into mental illness as
people have to stay for long term bed rests. Prenatal damages can create negative impact
upon mind of the people by creating loneliness and resulting into mental illness(Cheung, F.
M. 1989).
It is true that mental illness does not exist because people try their best to find ways for
avoiding their responsibilities. People have the myth that mental illness exists when people
are opposing and understanding that people try to avoid their duty and responsibility by
