Definition of “West”
The meaning of the term “west” varies from one individual. One who thins to be a part of it would have all flattering things to say about it, but o the other hand, the “others” would not flatter the term. As per Chinese geomancers, “west” is considered one of the coordinal directions where the sun sets. However, in a broader sense, “west” means the characteristics that are desired by an individual. However, several negative characteristics like loneliness, lawlessness ad instability are also associated with the “west” (Strayer & Nelson, 2009). On the other hand, as per the Americans, the “west” is the whole of the North America, which is the old world where colonialism took place. In the recent times, one hears of a West that incorporates not just countries populated by European stock, yet in addition non-Western countries that have acclimatized Western foundations, procedures, and somewhat values: Japan, for example. The implications we provide for the West today, in the United States, are by what is more, enormous deciphered from the utilization of Western Europeans in the late nineteenth century: the time when the British and French pilgrim domains straddled the world and Germany and Italy were, by correlation, minimized (Ferguson, 2012).
