Objectives
The main objective of the database management system at the proposed Airline Enterprise is to incorporate an online reservation system (Oyelade, 2009) to enhance the existing system. The DBMS will offer better services to its customers. It will allow the customers to view the availability of flights online with the airline, book airline tickets according to their choice, make payment as well as reserve seats. The system will offer enhanced alternatives to its customers for booking airline ticket as well as transparent system for reserving the seat of their choice on the flight. The system will reduce the paper work and simplify the operations for the airline employee through an automated system. The system will be focused on simplifying the tasks by being user-friendly. This will remove all the limitations of the current system.
Business Environment
The target airline company in this case study operates numerous aircrafts for domestic as well as international travel. It also offers cargo flights between certain specific regions. The enterprise has expanded its capacity to serve to the increasing demands of the industry. It has made significant contribution to the growth of the industry.
