Introduction
The research objective is to analyse the contribution to financial intermediary funds. The financial intermediate refunds are also known as FIFs. They are the multilateral financing arrangements. The World bank provide Tru
stee services to the financial intermediate refunds. Search Trustee services include committing and transferring funds for project implementation. All these Trustee services are in accordance with the instructions of independent governing bodies.
Research objective
The research objective relating to the data set of financial intermediary funds are given below:
- To check if the Receipt Type and Sector/Theme are related to each other
- To test if there is any significant difference in the mean amount contributed to FIFs between various calendar years.
Data
The data is obtained from a secondary source via world bank data .com. There is a total of 13 variables in this data set. The variables measured by the nominal scale of measurement are Fund Name, Donor Name, Donor Country Code, Receipt Type, Receipt Currency, Contribution Type, Sub Account and Sector/Theme. The variables measured by the ratio scale of measurement are Receipt Amount contributed to FIFs and Amount contributed to FIFs in USD. The time series variables are As of Date, Receipt Quarter, and Calendar Year.
Methodology
The analytical technique of hypothesis testing is used to achieve the research objectives. The statistical tool used for this purpose is Excel.
The dependent variable is amount contributed to FIFs which is measured in US Dollars. The independent variable is calendar year which is a time series variable. This variable takes value from 1991 to 2013. The data is further filtered for years 2009 – 2013. The technique of one-way ANOVA is used to test if there is any significant difference in the mean amount contributed to FIFs (USD) between calendar year 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013. As a graphical visualization, the bar chart is used for the purpose of data representation and summarisation. Histogram and Line chart is also used to analyse the distribution of amount contributed to FIFs and its trend.
Analysis
The frequency distribution along with the histogram for the amount contributed to FIFs is given below.

The histogram of amount contributed to FIFs has a tail towards the right. And I can say that the distribution of amount contributed to FIFs is skewed to the right. There are very few countries with high amount contributed to FIFs.
The box plot for the amount contributed to FIFs is given below.
There are no outliers in the data set of the amount contributed to FIFs.
The technique of one-way ANOVA is applied to test if there is significant difference in the mean amount contributed to FIFs contributed to FIFs between calendar years 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013.
Consider the null hypothesis, ho: there is no significant difference in the mean amount contributed to FIFs between calendar years 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013. This is tested against an alternative hypothesis, h1: at least one of the mean amounts contributed to FIFs between calendar...
