I have a purple personality. A mix of red and blue
PSY 150 GENERAL PSYCHOLOGY DAVE MALENICK COLOR CODE ASSIGNMENT The Color Code assignment should be written as a short “personal reflection” essay, ideally 3 pages if double spaced. If possible, please use 12 or 14 font…I’m not concerned with MLA, APA, or any other type of style, just write in whichever style is most comfortable to you. You will need to discuss several aspects of color code as it relates to your life. Some students like to stick pretty close to the questions listed later in this document. That’s ok, but just be careful that you don’t turn the assignment into “completing the review questions”. Some of the most vibrant papers focus on a couple of those questions in a bit more depth. Definitely save your paper on your computer or zip drive, in case it does not submit properly to the Blackboard link. If I am unable to read it or access it, you would then be able to simply e-mail it to me. If you have accidentally submitted your color profile into that link, you would need to e-mail me your paper. Please check the schedule for the due date. Early papers are very much appreciated and are usually scored faster. The paper is graded on the following components: · Your accurately reflecting your color, including any unique aspects and contradictions from the ‘textbook’ version of the color. If you are a combo color, make sure to point out what you believe your ‘core’ color is · Including enough examples from your life to describe your color and possible secondary colors · Examples and potential insights about how you relate to other colors, based on specific people in your life (parents, siblings, friends, romantic lovers/spouses, co-workers, extended family, etc.) · The overall Tone of the paper (your writing can reflect your personality color · Although grammar and spelling are not specifically taken into account, the paper must be readable and understandable. Too many mistakes could result in a lower grade. These questions might help you formulate your thoughts for the paper: 1. Do you feel the color you scored is correct? If not, what do you think is your true color? Core color? Are you a purist or a color combo? Were you always this color, or do you think you were different as a child? 2. How does your color influence your family relationships? Are your family members a similar color or very different? Are there any colors you get along with better? Are there colors you tend to struggle with? 3. How does your color influence your relations with friends and possibly romantic lovers? Do you have a love match Dr. Hartman would agree with? Or do you have a different one but it works out great? Are your friends more like you in terms of color, or do you prefer friends who have different colors? 4. At work or school, how does your color influence things? Are you a Red leader, or the Blue who does all the work? Do you like to make work fun, like a Yellow, or are you more of a White who likes to get along and keep the peace? 5. Are there any major life influences that have affected your personality color? Have you ever been overcome by the ‘Power of the Situation’, where the particular situation was so strong, you acted against your true personality color?
