I have 41 scenes of raw footage from an old episode of Law & Order. The assignment is to do a continuity edit in Adobe Premiere. no jump cuts are allowed.


Template1 Project #1 Continuity Edit Project #1 requires that you edit a narrative scene from SVU Law & Order in the classic continuity style of editing. Your scene should unfold in real time (no jump cuts), should have a logical and seamless sense of spatial continuity (don’t break the 180 line), and should generally be free of additional continuity errors (abrupt changes in sound from shot to shot, etc.). Additionally, your scenes will be assessed in terms of emotional impact and structure. Did you use reaction shots in a compelling and thoughtful manner? Did you pace the dialogue and action in a way that is appropriate and realistic for the content of the scene? Did you make smart choices in terms of shot sizes? Did you make the most of what you were given (acting, shot variety,) etc. For this project, embrace invisibility. This is not the project to “show off” the edit with stylistic cuts, transitions, music, etc. The less we notice each edit, the better.
