Conduct some research on the Model Code of Practice: Hazardous Manual Tasks. What does the Code describe as a hazardous manual task? What are three (3) injuries that can result from repetitive manual tasks?
Answer
The code helps in describing a hazardous task which is manual in nature which helps a person to move, carry, lift and lower down the items in a manner which puts less pressure on the person and thus carries lesser risk. This helps to prevent any forms of injuries. There are various hazards which are sustained and repetitive in nature and can have stress on the human body.
The three injuries that can result from repetitive manual tasks are as follows:
1. Injuries in the form of strains and sprains, tearing of ligaments and tendons
2. Injuries in the soft tissues such as hernia
3. Injuries such as nerves, bones and spinal discs.

While doing the lifting process, it must be ensured that the load is very close to the waist and it must not strain the back.

What does the National Health and Medical Research council (NHMRC) recommend in relation to the immunisation of children and workers in child care facilities and schools?

As per the recommendations of the National Health and Medical Research the council will direct all the workers and the employees to be immunized for protecting themselves from disease such as mumps, measles. Hepatitis so that they can stay safe and also helps in reducing the spread of communicable diseases such as flu. Further, all children must be immunized prior to enrolling themselves in the childcare services.

The identified hazards at FDC or childcare are inspection of all the works associated with cleaning, sanitization and maintenance of the school building or childcare center.
All the physical equipment must be kept in safe place and checked on a regular basis so that it does not harms the children
The monitoring of the tasks must be initiated by the child carers
Finally, if there are any records of any incidents and injuries with respect to the children observed, then they must be evaluated immediately.
