The purpose of the study, ‘Perception of a forensic accountant on how to mitigate fraud in financial Statements’ is to identify the different ways and mitigation trends which have been used or can be used to mitigate fraud in financial statements.
Alignment to the Program of Study
Financial statement fraud is one of the topics explored, yet financial fraud is not mitigated fully. Financial statement frauds are something which can break a company and with it the millions and billions of dollars of investment that investors have made in the company. Therefore, in this study, we are trying to find ways in which financial fraud can be mitigated and if it occurs how can forensic accountants identify the same.
Project Problem
Clearly, stated problem aligns with program, reflects literature gap or practice issue, and identifies population of interest.
Problem to be Addressed
The problem with financial statement fraud is that it takes away the company's reputation and the investor's trust in who has put the money in the company. Therefore, there is a need to discuss the problem and address it to ensure that the problem can be resolved and that respective mitigation strategies can be undertaken. The financial statement fraud problem exists inside the company where the company’s executives earn more doing such activities, leading to fraud.
Gap
Present an analysis of a gap in alignment with the problem and placed within the program. Addresses the broader questions of “who cares” and “why now”. Suggested length 1 paragraph.
The problem placed is that with such kinds of problems theoretical knowledge is not something which can work; therefore, one has to do things practically to solve the issues and solve the problem.

The accountant's perceptions regarding the fraud detection and prevention method are very different and therefore there are various ways which can be used to mitigate fraud in financial statements (Bierstaker, Brody & Pacini 2006).

The topic which is mitigation of financial statement fraud has been thoroughly studied which can be seen from the various literature which we have gone through in this plan, but there are lots of gaps and problems which have been introduced because of the frauds being very dynamic like the fraudsters have found new ways to do the frauds and therefore the study has been undertaken to analysis new ways to mitigate the frauds.
