Assessment 1: Knowledge Assessment
Answer 1
The team performance plan is generally
a detailed plan that will provide the future steps that are required to be taken by the team. This will also provide guidance and also the direction of work to the team, which will help in accomplishing the task of the team. The team performance plan will also help in measuring the progress of the team towards the desired performance level of the organization. Similarly, the team performance plan will provide a proper guideline that will keep the employees of the organization aligned together (van der Lipppe & Lippenyi, 2020).
Answer 2
Team performance plan is developed to identify the desired performance level of the team. Therefore, in order to achieve the desired performance level, the specific goals must be there for the team development, there must be performance measures, there must be actions taken in order to achieve the desired goals, and there must be an indicator regarding how much time it will be required to accomplish the task. Therefore, in order to accomplish the above targets, it is necessary to align the team performance plan with the main purpose of the team. Similarly, it is also important to align the team performance plan with the objective of the organization, so that the purpose of the team building plan will suffice (Hasan & Koning, 2019).
Answer 3
It is very crucial to align the individual/ team performance plan with the organizational objective because working with the same plan will help in accomplishing the organizational and individual objective. Therefore, the first step is to set the clear organizational goals, which is possible only after having a clear idea of mission, vision and strategy of the company. After the identification of organizational goal is finished, then it is shared with the leadership team to receive the necessary feedback. The third step is to communicate the goal at every level. The employees must have a clear idea regarding the goal, and they align their work according to that. The last step is to help employees in achieving their goals, because without the organizational and leadership support the employees will face problem in achieving their individual goal, which will jeopardise the team goal (You & Robert, 2018).
Answer 4
Ground rules are generally the statement of the value and the guidelines provided, which the group establishes in conscious manner to help the individual members to decide that how to act on the given work of the organization. The effectiveness of the ground rules will be understood when the rules must be clear, consistent, agreed and followed. The ground rules must ensure that all the employees in the organization are treated in equal manner, it is important to develop personal relationship in order to enhance the trust and open communication among the employees, a constructive feedback is necessary, however avoiding any defensive feedback (Hanselman et al., 2019).
Answer 5
Team cohesiveness is very important in the organization. Cohesiveness can lead to greater success in the company because it helps in improved employee satisfaction and increased motivation. Group cohesiveness or the unity among the team helps in increased productivity. It also helps in experiencing lower level of stress, and also contributes to lower level of absenteeism. It also helps in lower turnover rates because when the employees will experience greater job satisfaction, then their probability of turnover ratio will get minimized. Since, in a closed group where there is mutual understanding among the employees, they will work together to solve the problems, and multiple suggestion and set of skills will be received, which will be very beneficial for the organizational performance (Rogers, 2019).
Answer 6
Team cohesion can be achieved by following certain steps. At the first step it is important to have a defined goal and value. This will help the employees in the organization to view the point of view of the company, such as their mission and goals. This will help the employees to view and understand their own team and individual goals. This will help the employees to fix their shared values and goals to achieve the organizational goal together. The second strategy to develop the team cohesion is to offer training and development to the employees. It is necessary that every member of the team remain competent enough to contribute to the team goals, which will be possible if the employees are aligned according to the team and organizational goals (Akpan, 2019).
Answer 7
Conflict or any kind of disturbing issue may happen in the workplace. However, it is important to resolve the conflict as early as possible to avoid any kind of disruption in the workplace. Therefore, the best strategy to avoid any kind of conflict is to avoid that conflicting situation. Avoiding is when people withdraw or ignore the conflict. This method is adopted when the discomfort or the confrontation exceeds the potential reward of the resolution of the conflict. This situation might seem easy to be lodged for the facilitator, however, people are really not contributing anything regarding the value to the conversation and also, they may hold the worthwhile ideas (Huynh et al., 2019).
Answer 8
Team building and supporting are two major pillars for a successful and competent organization. The first step is to perform selective hiring. Considering the organizational vision and goals it will provide a clear picture regarding the type of employees required to be hired in the organization. Therefore, based on the qualification and the work experience of the employees which must be aligned with the mission and goals of the organization. This will help in determining the best fit for the organization. Another important factor for the team building and supporting teams is through the relationship building among the team members. Developing respect, building trust and this will help in creating better environment in the workplace. This will help in proper team coordination and effective work in the organization.
Answer 9
A team must have always an open and supportive communication. As discussed by Schaubroeck and Yu (2017) that there are certain characteristics for the open and supportive communication in the organization such as: an open and supportive communication provides clear direction to the team. This will help the team in understanding the goals of the organization and the team goals, which is only possible through open communication. The second characteristic is that an open and supportive communication will help in conveying the defined roles that each and every employee will perform in the team. They will have the details regarding the tasks they will perform, and also the communication between the team members will help them in accomplishing their individual task in better manner. The third characteristic is that open and supportive communication will create a sense of mutual accountability towards the work. The benefit of mutual accountability is that the team members will not blame each other for any problem, rather they will work together to solve the problem. They will also celebrate their success together rather taking individual credit for the work done. Hence, these are the benefits of open and supportive communication.
