I am a student here at Wenatchee Valley College, in my OCED Writing in the Workplace class, I talked to search for information about a particular degree program that I am interested in pursuing and what I would have to do to complete that degree program here at WVC. With the characteristics of technical communication and measures of excellence in mind, I'd like to take a minute to analyse and talk about the effectiveness of this particular website. My goal is to take a look at what is working well and highlight recommendations of how we can make it better. I want to see how well I can gather the information I need for a particular degree program that I am interested in and what will be involved with completing that program. My personal experience Honestly, I started to get a little bit frustrated because I tried to navigate my way through this website and had some trouble. I have an Associates of Technical Science degree in Environmental Systems and Refrigeration Technology, I am currently working on an Associates of Technical Science degree in Industrial Technology- Electronics, and now I am gaining interest in taking the Bachelor's Degree in Engineering. I tried using the drop down menus available on the main page and scanned every one of them. I was looking for anything that said something like 'course finder. I ended up finding it under a secondary drop down menu labelled course schedule'. I was lucky to find this because I wasn't ready to schedule when I am simply looking up information about courses. Both of these, to me, should be listed separately. I clicked on course finder and scrolled down to the quarter that I believed I may be able to start the course, then clicked on 'engineering'. One class is listed for that course in spring 2017! That doesn't seem to be accurate, 4.0 credits for the whole quarter isn't helpful for a student needing a minimum of 12.0 credits to be considered a full-time student for financial aid. It does have a footnote at the bottom that says to see course description for prerequisites'. Nowhere on this page is a link that says course description Using design to increase readability the layout of this website has a professional appearance, with beautiful graphics and design. This website does have a lot going on, but looks like it is still trying to be as simple as it can be. I do understand that this website does need to provide a lot of information. Accessibility and clarity I settled with entering Electrical Engineer in the search tab. A long list of links are now listed that pertain to my search. This is somewhat useful, as it is helping me solve my problem, but is also very time consuming. Time is not something that I personally have a lot of with a wonderfully busy life of working full time and raising five beautiful babies. Clicking between the links is giving me a lot of helpful information, but I know now that I am going to meet with an adviser at the college who can answer my questions immediately and show me exactly what I need to know to move forward with obtaining this degree. Is this a decision that viewers of this website will make, not sure but if it is then there is
