Service Name Water Washers Ltd. Description A cargo ship that goes through the dirty areas of the Oceans, beaches, and harbours that collects garbage floating on top of the water (using a net) to bring onto the ship. Along with smaller collection boats that will go through shallow or tighter areas and bring garbage back to the ship. Once on the ship we can mulch, melt, and compact the garbage together with some type of hydraulic press. we use it to make some type of materials used for designs or landscaping (decorative rocks, patio stones, slabs, etc.) We would need different manufacturing plants/ factory’s that we can deliver our collected garbage to. These plants will take the bulk of garbage and transform, melt, and recycle it into a useful product. Our large freight ships will need different mechanical cranes to hoist garbage around the ship accordingly. Skilled workers from many trades will be required for the building aspects of this project along with the maintenance and operations of the project. Shift work is to be expected as the ship will travel to other parts of the ocean. Why? Our services will be useful for beaches, and harbours. not only will we clean the beach/harbour, but we will be able to dispose of the garbage in an environmentally friendly way. We will provide our customers with decorative rocks, and stones for gardening using the garbage we took out of the beach/harbour. People will use our services because every beach/harbour needs scenery, and our service is all inclusive so customers will not have to pay extra for landscaping materials. We will have a second location where we sell our products Similar Services There are similar companies that clean the oceans on a smaller scale; however, we have yet to see services that clean larger debris/ garbage from the waters. The companies we seen mainly focus on smaller plastics that are harmful to fish and other marine life. Our service focus’ on more of the pollution aspects of cleaning the water. So, the garbage that is overlooked by our economy is our goal for this endeavor. Inspiration This product has the potential to better our planet. We were in search of a product that will make a difference in a big way. The cleansing of our waters will help aquatic life, land animals, and humans in the long run to keep our planet healthy. When looking at the amount of pollutants that we contaminate the water with, we feel that not enough is done to protect oceans. It is our hopes that our idea will add some help in the struggle of keeping our planet alive. Challenges Our biggest challenge will be to design the manufacturing process. I think depending on the location, budget, and manpower we have available at the time of construction, there will be a large challenge in the building stages of the project. We also will have minor challenges coming up with the exact design needed to recycle the different type of materials we find into something useful. Concerns · Is there a price budget? · Target Location? · What type of shift work is to be expected? · How many boats shall we purchase? · How many factories are needed in Canada for the manufacturing of the weighted biproducts? · Will this make a big dent in the big scheme of cleaning our planet? Draft #1 Your first draft should include: · A description of the problem you are tackling. Be specific. Remember, you cannot tackle all of climate change, so what is your specific problem? Why is this a problem that needs solving? · A description of the solution. There should be enough information for me to understand what your product/service is and be able to provide you feedback. · How does your solution address the problem? · What are the basics of how it works? · What similar products/services exist? Why is yours different? · Do you have a sketch or outline of your idea you can share? · What questions do you have about the project? · What resources have you used for your information so far (please cite in APA or MLA)? Format: Your draft can be point form, but must include enough information for me to see, a) you have worked on this project since the proposal b) you are developing the solution and beginning to think about next steps c) you understand the problem you are attempting to solve Your draft can be a Word, Google Doc or PDF document. It should be at minimum one page, single spaced You can include any appropriate visuals you are considering using (in addition to your 1 page content). Rubric Criteria At Standard (3 points) Approaching Standard (2 points) Below Standard (1 point) Required Elements All required elements from draft outline are included. Most required elements from draft outline are included. Some/not many required elements from draft outline are included. Completion Project is on track and is as complete as expected for time of submission. Project has some completed aspects but requires more work in others. More work is needed as to what is expected at time of submission. Project appears to be lacking completion and depth and requires more work for completion than what is expected for time of submission.
