Hume claims that you are not justified in thinking that events in your future will follow each other like they have in your past. Do you agree with him that you personally do not have any legitimate reason to think that events in your future will follow each other just like they have in your past? If you think he’s wrong, then what is your personal reason for thinking that events in your future will follow each other like they have in your past? Is your personal reason just a case of circular reasoning? That is, are you using your past experience to show that your past experience is a reliable guide for your future? If you agree with Hume that you personally do not have any real reason to think that events in your future will follow each other as in your past, what do you think this means for the plans you have made for your future?
