The poem “The Scholar and His Cat” is translated by Gerard Murphy is a poem based on a scholar and his cat that are focused individually on their own talent search. The cat in the poem is called white Pangur. The poet says that the special talent of the white Pangur is hunting and the special talent of the poet or the scholar is special craft. The poet implies that the craft that white Pangur has is childish and he wants the cat to continue it. He also says the cat does not envy him. The scholar says that he himself is not involved in some childish practices rather he finds it useful and better then gaining money or fame to just sit in solitude with a book by his side and keep reading the book. It gives him a lot of knowledge and he genuinely enjoys that process of gaining knowledge...
