    Stephen King is one of the skilled writers who are gifted with the ability to present realities
of imprisoned life in a fictitious way. Throughout the novella, at no point, readers get detached from the issue of mental suffering that Andy and Red both go through. The suffering begins with the perceptions of Red about Shawshank prison. The point of suffering is that in spite of having genuine requests, the prisoners are not allowed to have normal lives within the prison premises. It is more like viewing the oppression from the ground reality. Red’s character is portrayed in a fictitious manner by King though; he appears to be more realistic than the personality of himself in the novella.
