Lab 1: Basic HTML and CSS Acknowledgment: original lab idea and code by Victoria Kirst and Jeff Prouty; revised by Brian Le and Marty Stepp The purpose of this lab is to practice writing basic web pages with HTML and CSS and uploading them to the Web. The goal of the lab is to create a Web-page about you using only HTML and CSS. Directions • Follow all steps in exercises 1 through 7 of the week 3 worksheet on HTML and CSS. • Create a personal Web-page with the following information: Your name A description of yourself in two sentences or less. Emphasize the most important word(s) by putting them in bold. A list of classes you are taking right now at SUNY Oswego. Your 3 favorite movies/videos, books, or TV shows, in order. Make at least one link to an interesting site about that movie/book/tv show, such as its IMDB page. Two images, one that represents you when you're happy and the other to represent you when you're sad. (These can be any images you like. Consider searching for images on Google Image Search). Something interesting about one or more of your neighbors (people you know, may be classmates, friends, relatives etc.). You may add additional information if you would like. Submission • We created your account to log in our pi server at cs.oswego.edu. Your username is the first part of your Oswego email address before @oswego.edu, and your password is bhi503. For example, if your email address is
[email protected], your username is myname and your password is bhi503. • We did not create a new account for the students who have already had the pi server account. Those students need to use their existing username and password. • Some students do not remember if they have their own account. If the password bhi503 does not work for you, try bhi2020. Then if bhi2020 does not work, try bhi2019. Then if bhi2019 does not work, try bhi2021 If all four of passwords (bhi503, bhi2020, bhi2019, and bhi2021) do not work for you, contact me. http://imdb.com/ http://images.google.com/ http://images.google.com/ • Upload the all the files in your webpage to our pi server (http://cs.oswego.edu) under the 'public_html' folder (you may use FileZilla for example for this purpose). The files uploaded to this folder will be accessible through the address: http://cs.oswego.edu/~username where 'username' will be your pi username. • For uploading your files to the pi server, please read the document ‘BHI503_Week4_Lab1_FileUpload.pdf’ attached. • Turn in the Canvas drop-box: A link to the completed website on the pi server. An explanation of which HTML and CSS features you have used to create this webpage. Note: due to FERPA regulations, you have the choice of either using your actual name or a fake name. http://moxie.oswego.edu/
