The difference between the two notions is huge as these concepts entail a vast group of people who are poor. In the documentary “giving a person a fish” is best explained by the unlimited flow of charity to African nations and the free products and services they receive from Non-Governmental Organizations and social entrepreneurs. While this act is certainly deemed good and a kind humanitarian act. The implications are a problem that deters the growth of the nation or the area they support or give their charitable donations to. The constant charity makes one dependent on the organization or the entity that keeps providing the services. People become lazy and continue to get used to the system of receiving charity instead of working to earn their living or starting something of their own. This is a problem as mentioned in the documentary and one of the examples is the prolonged state of poverty in Haiti that is a testament to why the nation in spite of receiving millions of dollars of aid have not climbed out of poverty.
