Topics 1. Using the internet, from the following list of human resource topics, select and research eight articles of interest to you. Each topic can only be selected for a maximum of two articles each (i.e. you have to research at least four different areas: 4 x 2 = 8). Topics List (max of two articles from each list): · Legal considerations/recent legislative changes affecting HR · Health & Safety issues · Recruitment practices · Selection methods · Training & Development techniques · Managing employee performance · Labour Relations issues · Rewards/Compensation systems 2. Articles could relate to specific organizations, as they relate to the selected topic. For example, an appropriate article on “training and development”, could relate to a specific company’s approach to current methods they implement, including any changes or innovations they’ve incorporated. Alternatively, articles could also focus on experts’ opinions/views based on research they’ve conducted (example of “selection” article: https://hbr.org/2019/05/should-companies-use-ai-to-assess-job-candidates ) 3. Articles must be from a variety of sources such as academic journals, business magazines, newspapers, reputable online magazines, news sources. etc. (ex: Harvard Business Review). It is important to use a variety of sources. Do not use Wikipedia as this source is not valid. Articles must be current. Only those published within the past three years (2018, 2019 or 2020) will be accepted. If the article does not mention the date, it cannot be included. Each source article must contain at least 500 words. 4. Summarize each of the eight articles in your own words (do not simply copy and paste the article!) Additionally, as you reflect on each article, add your own comments and opinions, drawing on possible future implications relative to the field of human resource management. 5. Create a free blog using WordPress (https://wordpress.com/?ref=marketing_bar ), adding your eight summaries to this blog. Along with the summaries, include links to the original articles. Ensure that you also have a “homepage”, that provides links to your summaries. Each summary is to be a minimum of three-four paragraphs, and the title of the article, the author and the source must be identified on each. 6. Ensure that you add your blog link to the Learn discussion forum by the due date. All group members’ names and student numbers must be included in the blog. Here are some things to keep in mind with your Blog site: 1. Register a blog name with Wordpress that works with the assignment or topic you selected. 2. Make sure you create an account that everyone in your group can access. 3. Submit the blog site URL and a list of group members who worked on the site. 4. Be creative. Wordpress allows for a lot of customizability of its site with many free themes and customizations. Also, feel free to use graphics to spice up the look of your site. Part A - Deliverables Included in your blog posts are: · 8 summaries of articles, 3-4 paragraphs each · Each blog post should include a link to the original article referenced · PART B – PRESENTATION DELETED 1. An overview will be provided, along with their personal reflections on the article. 2. The presentations will take place after the blogs have been completed (i.e. after the deadline). All members of the group must attend. Groups are responsible for their own audio/visual requirements, and therefore should determine this beforehand.
