However, in spite of the obvious positive fact of creating new jobs in the hosting country, the large multinational corporations very often have been criticized for violating the rights of the workers, creating unbearable working conditions, and increasing workloads while cutting compensation. They have been attacked for creating a so-called “sweatshop” environment for their employees. A few of the recent targets of the criticism have been Walmart, 2 Disney, 3 JCPenney, Target, Sears, 4 Toys R Us, 5 Nike, 6 Reebok, 7 Adidas, 8 Gap, 9 IBM, Dell, HP, 10 Apple and Microsoft, 11 etc. This case addresses advocacy by students and other stakeholders toward one of these countries and documents the evolution and outcome of the dispute.
