    The current payment system in the United States healthcare system falls short in meeting the
needs of vulnerable populations in various ways. Vulnerable populations include individuals who are low-income, uninsured, elderly, disabled, or belong to ethnic and racial minorities. These groups often face significant barriers in accessing and paying for healthcare services, and the current payment system exacerbates these challenges.
    The high expense of healthcare is one of the main issues underprivileged communities confront (Usher, 2021). Despite the existence of government programs like Medicare and Medicaid, a large number of low-income people still struggle to pay for the cost of medical services, prescription medicines, and other related costs. Furthermore, uninsured people frequently incur substantial out-of-pocket medical expenses, which can result in medical debt or even bankruptcy. Lack of access to care for disadvantaged groups is another problem. Many of these people don't have access to healthcare providers, hospitals, or clinics since they reside in medically underdeveloped areas. These people may find it challenging to access tests, preventative care, or treatment for chronic disorders as a result. Furthermore, many vulnerable groups may have transportation or schedule challenges that make it challenging to obtain care even when access to care is accessible.
    The specific health requirements of disadvantaged people are not taken into account by the present payment system (Farkas & Romaniuk, 2020).
