Soil Compressibility:
It is the phenomenon or capab
ility to decrease, of a soil, in volume due to externally applied pressure in vent such as mechanical load, heavy load (Chong & Santamarina, 206). This event is termed as Compression. When an external force is applied whether be physical, mechanical or by applying pressure the particles between the soil occupies the space that is left up in them as soil is nothing but small grains together forming soil. All types of soil can be compressed depends on the permeability of the soil. Saturated and unsaturated soil describes the amount of space between the particles of soil which can contain different particles of sand as well. In the event when pouring water on a soil doesn’t pass through it then we say the soil is fully compressed, as there is no more available space or air that can be filled up.
